By drafting the Power of Attorney for Personal Care for you, JLJ Law identifies and captures your wishes for medical treatment and pain medication. This also includes setting out the right to grant consent for any required treatment.

Continuing Powers of Attorney For Property

We will draft and oversee the execution of a Continuing Power of Attorney for the property so that you can appoint others to make property-related decisions on your behalf.

Probate Applications

Probate applications can be complex, but you do not have to worry about that. We will help you understand everything about your role as an executor if the deceased has died testate and your role as an administrator should the deceased die intestate.

What does Intestate mean?

A person is said to have died intestate when they die without leaving behind a valid will. If you die without a will, your estate will be distributed in accordance with Ontario's Succession Law Reform Act and someone will need to apply to the court to request the authority to administer your estate. This situation entails applying for a Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee without a Will. This certificate will then give you the authority to manage the estate assets and pay the estate debts. Janine has the experience and knowledge to assist you with the entire process.

What does Testate mean?

A person is said to have died testate if they pass away leaving a valid Will in place. When such a situation arises, there may be more than one executor named to handle the deceased’s affairs. If you are the executor, you can work with Janine to apply for a Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee with a Will. She will also assist you with the relevant legal matters as things progress.

Wills

Janine will draft your will to ensure that your wishes are conveyed to your beneficiaries regarding the division of your property and other assets.

Immigration Law

JLJ Law focuses on tailoring immigration solutions that suit the requirements of all those who knock on our door. We are determined to help you obtain permanent residency, citizenship, work permits, or the visa you are searching for.

Visitor Visa Applications

A temporary resident visa (TRV) is an official document issued by a visa office that is placed in a person’s passport to show that they have met the requirements for admission to Canada as a temporary resident. Holding a TRV does not guarantee entry to Canada. We will work hard to ensure that you meet the mandated requirements if a foreign national meets the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and is admissible, an immigration officer may issue a TRV. If you get a TRV you may be allowed to visit Canada as a tourist, to see family and friends, or to do business.

Study Permit Applications

A study permit is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) which allows you to study and stay in Canada temporarily. In general, you must apply for a study permit before you come to Canada, however, some people may apply for a study permit from within Canada, Janine can assist you with your study permit applications and will guide you throughout the entire process.

Work Permit Applications

A work permit is a legal document which allows a foreign national to seek employment while inside Canada. There are numerous different types of Canadian work permits. Some work permits require a job offer from a Canadian employer, while others require that the employer provide a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), and there are even some that require a person has some sort of connection to Canada (previous education, spousal sponsorship, etc.). Contact us to find out whether you are eligible to apply for a work permit and which work permit may be right for you.

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program

This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently. FSW program allows candidates with foreign work experience and no connections to Canada to apply for permanent residency. Skilled workers are chosen as permanent residents based on their education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other factors. Janine has experience ensuring that clients are strongly positioned on their documents, which often results in them receiving an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residency.

Sponsorship Applications

Your relatives can live, study and work in Canada if they become permanent residents of Canada. Canada offers numerous immigration programs that give Canadians the opportunity to sponsor their family members to Canada. You may be eligible to sponsor your dependent children, spouse, common-law, or conjugal partner for Canadian permanent residence, whether they are living in Canada with a valid temporary visa or residing abroad. Janine will work with you to ensure that all legal requirements are fulfilled.

H&C Applications

The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) allows foreign nationals who are inadmissible or who are ineligible to apply in an immigration class, to apply for permanent residence, or for an exemption from a requirement of the Act, based on humanitarian and compassionate (H&C) considerations. JLJ Law will help you take care of the end-to-end process as we are dedicated to your cause, but the final decision lies with Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
